Jewish Education

A rabbi and a scholar.

What you learn at Touro is only the beginning. Whether you go on to teaching, the rabbinate, an administrative role at a day school or yeshiva, or a doctoral degree, you will receive a solid foundation for your career in Jewish education.

Housed on our Queens campus, the program is geared towards men studying for their semicha, as well as individuals with advanced yeshiva training and a recognized baccalaureate degree. Our courses focus on curriculum development, methods of teaching Jewish studies, and effective classroom instruction and management, to better prepare graduates for a career in Jewish education.

We integrate both secular and Judaic sources, learning from what both the rabbis and modern education scholars have to say about topics ranging from curriculum to positive psychology.

Our experienced faculty uses a blend of theoretical and experiential instruction. We lead students to become reflective practitioners through peer critique, self-assessment and supervised instruction.
