Mervin Verbit, Ph.D., is professor and chair of sociology, as well as director of the Israel Studies Institute at Touro College. Verbit’s areas of interest include the sociology of religion, contemporary Jewry, and research methodology. He received his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1968.
