Research

My research focuses on medieval Jewish history, with particular emphasis on Jewish life in the Italian Marche and the interaction between Jewish communities and Christian authorities from the thirteenth through sixteenth centuries. I am especially interested in questions of minority status, communal autonomy, and the negotiation of authority between Jewish communities and papal or municipal power.
